I think I would feel more empathetic to kids/their parents in games if the kids depicted in games weren’t always the most angelic, adorable, beautiful little beings with the perfect names (90% of the time it’s “Lily”).

How about some flashbacks where the kid is a brat and not the most precious little thing? How about the parents being very invested in the child despite it being a little shithead?
