I kind of spoiled myself with something that’s going to happen to Ignis in Chapter 9 but oooh boiiiii am I ready for my streamer to finally get to that point because I’m fucking thirsty for that hurt/comfort… fuck fuck fuck
also watched the Brotherhood anime and I’m happy with all the insight we got on the boys! don’t know yet whether Prompto’s backstory made me happy or annoyed though… it’s this stupid aftertaste of ‘you need to be thin to be the friend of a thin person’.
But Ignis really is the best boy holy fuck… does he even live for himself? He’s only working working working Q.Q poor boo
I disagree with the idea that Prompto thinks he had to be thin to be friends with Noct. I mean, yes that was part of it because Noctis is Noctis and he’s kind of a shit, but I think it was more that Prompto just wanted to better himself. We saw in the anime that he was very unhealthy, his diet was bad, he didn’t get exercise, he had a generally low opinion of himself.
People change in different ways, but Prompto’s level of improvement would have been because he wanted to. If you’ve ever seen people try to get healthier for the wrong reason (i.e. to be friends with the cool kid), it usually fizzles out very quickly and the person won’t actually change, and usually gives up.
My opinion I guess, but I saw Prompto’s story as very positive because he didn’t just get skinny, he got healthier and more self-confident.
ahh no I didn’t quite express myself correctly. I wasn’t talking so much about the motivation of the character as such but more of the message it was giving off/at least felt for me.
I was annoyed by this typical ‘bumbling fat character that needs to become thin to be useful’. I mean; you don’t have to be thin to be flexible/fast/whatever. Prompto’s home life was also extremely weird/unrealistic in general because he was like… what… 12?13? and was essentially living alone? just… strange.
