Fallout 76 – Official Teaser Trailer

fOkay so my initial observations:

– 2076 is, as most of us know, one year before the Great War.

– this vault has already been mentioned in Fallout 3 and the intro of Fallout 4. From the Fallout Wiki page:

The Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel lists Vault 76 as a “control”
vault
, with 500 occupants. The vault was designed to open 20 years after
a nuclear war, and was among the seventeen known control vaults,
meaning that it was used as a baseline to compare to experimental
vaults. It is also mentioned in one of the alien captive recorded logs (no.13) recorded by Giles Wolstencroft, a Vault-Tec official who was abducted while inspecting the vault’s construction site. In Fallout 4,
the newsreader in the prologue mentions Vault 76 debuting in 2076 in
honor of America’s tercentenary when discussing Vault-Tec’s plans to
expand.

– the poster in the bedroom reads “1776-2076/Vault-Tec Salutes America”
and at the bottom “Vault 76/The Official Vault of the Tricentennial”.
This refers to the 300th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration
of Independence.

– its location is as yet unknown but the choice of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’ strongly suggests West Virginia.

HOWEVER!!! ON CLOSER VIEWING I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS IS A PREQUEL!! The date and time on the Pip-boy at the start reads: 27 OCT 2102 / 0632, which places it on the 25 YEARS AFTER THE GREAT WAR (four days after the anniversary, to be exact)

– the big banner says ‘Celebrate Reclamation Day’. There’s no Fallout Wiki entry for this so idk what it means yet.

– this means the main character could well have been born inside the Vault and lived their whole life there

– the Pip-boy has glowing tubes and most closely resembles the Pip-Boy 2000 from the first Fallout game, but with the interface flipped around and adapted to be more usable.

– the Pip-boy is tuned to Vault-Tec Radio

– a wooden soldier exactly like MacCready’s is placed next to the TV

– the plaque and trophy read ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ and ‘1st Place’
