Cyber, you have rodents and seem like a perfectly good owner, so I bring to you this issue: I found a not-quite-baby mouse in the middle of the road, and while it has a good appetite and a lot of energy, it seems completely I afraid of humans and has trouble moving. Although it seems uninjured and not in pain, it leans heavily to one side and can only ‘walk’ by throwing itself places. I set it up with food and water but it can’t move to get water by itself and has to be given it by hand. Advice?

Mouse anon: never mind. It died.

oof. so a heads up in general; if any of you have an animal and wondering about a ‘weird’ behavior, fearing it might be sick, in most cases it really is sick. Please consult a veterinarian. I know it is scary and you’d rather not, but I am no vet and animals dying/in pain/sick is probably the single thing in the world that could ‘trigger’ me, and I’m not fit with dealing with that, I’m sorry. I nor anybody else can give you any pointers from half a world away. owning a pet means having the responsibility to take it to the vet if you feel like something is wrong with it; it can’t do it on it’s own, it is dependent on you to make the decision.

on a different note: while it is admirable of you to have taken the mouse in, it might have been sick with/carried any number of deceases and that’s pretty dangerous to you personally. Please think of that beforehand next time 😦

I am very sorry it went that way, however. I would have liked nothing more than if it had worked out and a lil rodent would have found a home
