yes I absolutely understand what you mean.
obviously everybody has a right to their own personal tastes and I would never say anybody is wrong for enjoying one trope or the other. (I have my guilty pleasures as well).
However, I personally, like the controlling aspect in D/s relationships. Negotiated rules that are to be followed by both parties; the sub feeling safe due to the rules clearly set-up; knowing exactly what will happen if they do this over that.
