I don’t… think… we should think too much into the length of his hair…. few of us are experts in Japanese culture and I think starting to measure the length of different parts of his hair would be p silly.
Sometimes a hairstyle is just a hairstyle. I also don’t think the artist had put too much thought into why they depicted him like they did

(last anon here) like honestly hanzo’s whole character is rooted in exaggerated japanese tradition and honor, and this design is just so out of place… i wasn’t even sure it was hanzo at first. idk what drugs the artist did when they did that panel but…
maybe it is supposed to show that he kinda feels a bit better now that he knows Genji is alive and maybe had more interactions with him; so he feels free to move forward out of his worn out tracks
i’m just trying to figure out why they depicted hanzo like that… like, that’s just not in his character at all, much less his physical design :/
I really don’t know. If I were to pay more attention to actual canon I would probably also be more upset about it. For now it is pretty exciting and looks very cool but I think in general I still prefer his old design more. I like his grey sideburns and his scruffy pony tail
